If you fail you must complete a basic pistol training level 2 or private instruction class before you will be allowed to re-shoot the qualification.
Class Requirements |
- You must show up on time. The state requires 3 complete hours of training.
- Valid FOID and IL Concealed Carry License
- Pen and paper.
- Eye and ear protection (which you can rent for $4)
- 30 rounds of ammunition (which you can purchase in-store)
- A firearm unloaded and in a case.
Although it is not required by the State of IL, Maxon Concealed Carry instructors will ask that you shoot your qualification with the firearm you intend to carry in .380ACP/.38SPL or higher caliber. We have plenty of rental guns available if you do not own something suitable.
You can take this class anytime. But you can't apply for renewal until 90 days before your license expires.
At the end of class, after you pass your qualification shoot, you will be given a certificate of training that does not expire. This certificate will need to be uploaded into your renewal application on the Illinois State Police ISPFSB website.
